Add extreme shadows to your lettering with the help of a lightbox

Once you have mastered the techniques to create your own beautiful lettering, you can take it a step further by adding shadows. Often these will be a subtle grey line to one side of your thicker strokes, but in her masterclass in issue 5, Lou Collins shows us three ways to create much more obvious shadows that will really make your lettering stand out.

In the video below, Lou walks us through how to create a floating shadow, like the one used in the Live Love Letter project above. You can do this without any fancy equipment but it’s so much easier with a lightbox, as Lou demonstrates
